Completed in the summer of 2019, the mural honors first-responders and the military while also inviting people to take a selfie with the painting. The design incorporates eagle wings in colors influenced by the Kansas landscape and United States flag. The imagery was inspired by life in Newton, Kansas and features the iconic clouds, sunflowers and wheat with a central focus on a steam engine projecting toward the viewer. At its center is the #wearenewton symbol, which has now become the official flag for the City of Newton.
