9-11 Memorial Mural

The mural was done in August and September of 2016. Attica students chose the theme from these prompts: Pure Abstraction, Historical Theme, Memorial, School Theme, Local Theme, State Theme, or a National Theme. They chose to combine Historical and National. Their justification for choosing it was to commemorate the anniversary of the attacks of 9-11. Josh Lanning and Dale Adams, the principal and superintendent at the time, approved it for the students of Attica to complete the mural. Mike Campbell created the design, based on what the students said they wanted, and used a grid method to transfer it to the surface of the Spangler building. The City of Attica donated the paint and brushes and it is all hand painted with outdoor latex paint purchased locally with materials from Bulldog Supply.
