Destination Topolobampo Mural

Destination Topolobampo KCMO Railroad (Kansas City-Mexico-Orient) by artist Mike Fallier, assisted by Joe Burnet, both of Wichita, KS. Completed August 6, 2004. Anthony Chamber of Commerce Tourism. May 10, 1902, marked the driving of the spike in Anthony, KS, which was the beginning of the KCMO railroad in the United States. Mayor Brown of Anthony, KS, presented the KCMO Vice-President with a $40,000 bond from the citizens of Anthony to aid in the construction of the railway which was to connect Kansas City with Topolobampo, Mexico. A hidden part of our disappearing past is captured in this mural, funded by the Wayne F. Dennis Memorial. You can find this mural of days gone by in Memorial Park, which has a nice park to explore, a playground, picnic tables, and bathrooms. Memorial Park is also home to the Official September 11th Memorial and you can find a tribute to the Heros of 9-11 nearby. Memorial Park is on the west edge of Anthony, just east of the intersection of Highway 2 and W Main Street.
