Turning a Corner by artist Joe Jones, 1939, oil on canvas, was painted with Treasury Section of Fine Arts funding through the New Deal program that brought art to the public while employing struggling artists. Jones rose to national fame as an artist during the Great Depression in the United States. This mural is located in the Historical Anthony, Kansas post office which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 for the link to the mural located inside. Turning a Corner was one of the twenty-nine murals and sculptures commissioned in post offices across Kansas, and today is one of the twenty-one remaining in active post offices that haven’t disappeared.  The mural reflects 3 farmers using a combine to thresh wheat. This mural is also listed as an 8 Wonders of Kansas Art through the Kansas Sampler Foundation as Post Office Section Art Statewide. The post office address is 121 W Steadman St, Anthony, KS 67003.
